Punjab govt responsible for Model Town 'bloodbath': Kamran Shahid reveals JC report

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Senior journalist Kamran Shahid on Tuesday revealed details of judicial commission’s report pertaining to Model Town tragedy. The report compiled by Justice Baqir Ali Najfi of the Lahore High Court (LHC) directly holds Punjab government responsible for ‘bloodbath’ in Model Town area. It was mentioned in the report that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had not ordered the police to ‘disengage’ from the clashes with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) supporters, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 people and injuries to over 80 others....

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has announced revolution march on August 14 for elimination of the system of oppression and coercion. He asked 180 million people to stand up to repression and status quo which was responsible for keeping them mired in poverty and backwardness. He said that sacrifices of the workers in the way of revolution including getting tear-gased, baton-charged and embracing martyrdom were worthy of our deepest respect and pride. He said that neither would oppression nor oppressor be spared now, adding that the reign of the cruel rulers would come to an end....

Model Town Massacre - 17 June 2014

The police attack that took place at the residence of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran International in Lahore on June 17 represents the worst ever example of state terrorism, savagery, violence and barbarism in which live bullets were fired at innocent and unarmed citizens, the unarmed women were killed by firing of live bullets for the first time in the history of Pakistan and the Holy Quran was desecrated. The Model Town tragedy is condemned in the strongest possible words. Protection of people’s lives and property, right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression are fundamental requirements of real democracy....

Pondering over APC

Dr.Tahir ul Qadri’s APC was held at the Minhaj -ul- Quran Secretariat in model town. It was attended by more than 50 religious and political parties and groups. APC had no other agenda except to build consensus on the line of action against state brutality. Most of the sects of religion were represented by the religious scholars. It was quite assuring for the people of Pakistan to see the unity and harmony among them. We consider it God’s blessing . ...

MQI’s APC demands Shahbaz’s resignation

In the five-point charter of demands, the APC also called for a fair probe into the Model Town incident, formation of a commission comprising three judges of the Supreme Court. It was also demanded that the commission comprising judges with clean reputation should head the proposed commission and must have the authority to summon anyone, including the sitting prime minister, federal ministers and Punjab chief minister. It was also demanded that for a fair probe, an inquiry committee comprising officials of good reputation be constituted....

Qadri-led APC wants whole Punjab set-up to go home

The joint declaration also demanded that all police officers and other government officials, including IG Punjab, DIG, home secretary, DCO, Lahore CCPO, SSPs, SP Model Town and SHOs Model Town Police Station should be dismissed and arrested "for their involvement in the Model Town killings", while Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other provincial ministers should resign and hand over themselves to the law....

Qadri’s APC asks Shahbaz Sharif to step down as chief minister

LAHORE – An all parties conference (APC), called by the Pakistan Awami Tehreek, on Sunday demanded resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif over the Model Town tragedy, private news channels reported. At least 50 members of political and religious parties participated in the conference while the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the largest opposition party, and the Awami National Party avoided the gathering. ...

Qadri’s APC demands Shahbaz Sharif’s resignation over Model Town incident

The five points of the declaration included, first Information Report (FIR) of the incident should be registered on the complaint filed by Minhaj-ul-Quran. The APC strongly condemning the Model Town tragedy stated that the cruel operation on unarmed persons was tantamount to tearing justice into shreds. The resolution demanded constitution of a commission comprising of three senior Judges of the Supreme Court, which could summon anyone including the prime minister....

Addressing the All-Parties Conference, PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the rulers broke all records of savagery and terrorism by killing innocent and unarmed workers and the members of the civil society, which resulted in martyrdom of 14 people besides injuring over 125 workers. He said that police intimidated and coerced the Durood reciters in Gosh-a-Durood and did not even hesitate from desecrating the Holy Quran.
