Pondering over APC

Thursday, July 03, 2014 - Dr.Tahir ul Qadri’s APC was held at the Minhaj -ul- Quran Secretariat in model town. It was attended by more than 50 religious and political parties and groups. APC had no other agenda except to build consensus on the line of action against state brutality. Most of the sects of religion were represented by the religious scholars. It was quite assuring for the people of Pakistan to see the unity and harmony among them. We consider it God’s blessing .

Their discussion and debate was to consider only one point agenda - the tragedy of Model Town. Dr. Qadri had already cleared that APC had no other agenda except to consider the line of action against state brutality. Ch. Shujaat, Ch Parvaiz Elahi PML (Q), Shah Mahmood Quershi, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Mahmood ur Rashid PTI, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Rashid Godel MQM, Ahmad Raza Qadri Sunni Itehad Council, Ahmad Raza Qasuri APML, Sheikh Rashid AML and representatives of Ithed -e- Muslimeen attended the conference

All of them unanimously agreed on the six point declaration. They spelt out the demands. The resignation of the Punjab Chief Minister and his Cabinet. The termination of the concerned officials involved in the massacre of PAT workers. The two major political parties PPP and ANP abstained, but strongly condemned the state brutality. The conference was successful in putting together the demands. They demanded that Judicial Commission comprising three Judges of Supreme Court be formed to probe the incident. A joint investigation committee including officials of MI, IB, FIA, and Police be formed to investigate the matter. I think now the ball is in the court of the government to do the needful by accepting these demands.
