PAT workers hold demonstration before anti-terrorism court

The PAT workers held a peaceful demonstration before the anti-terrorism court demanding justice in the Model Town case. They chanted ‘Go Nawaz Go’ slogans. The demonstration led by Hafiz Ghulam Farid was attended by a large number of women. The PAT workers announced that as long as the case will continue in the antiterrorism court, they will continue to hold peaceful demonstration for justice. Ch. Muhammad Azam, the new judge of the antiterrorism court who replaced Justice Khawaja Zafar Iqbal, could not hold proceedings of the Model Town case due to judicial engagements and he gave a new date of April 18. The residents of Model Town and neighbours of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri came to record their statements yesterday.

Speaking to media, the PAT lawyers led by Rai Bashir Ahmad Advocate said that the self-concocted and fake challan of police has lost its importance after filing of complaint. They said that the legal demand is that the case should now be heard on the basis of complaint filed by PAT, adding that neither can a dual trial of the same case be held nor can indictment be imposed twice. The PAT workers made it clear that as long as the case will be heart, they would lodge peaceful protest.
