SHOs Shadman and Litton Road fired at MQI workers: Witnesses

Haji Zafar Iqbal and Sabir Kamal Wattoo, two witnesses of Model Town Complaint case, recorded their statements before the anti-terrorism court. In his testimony, Haji Zafar Iqbal said that SHO Shadman Sheikh Asim shot at 20-year old youth Umar Raza with his official revolver and critically injured him who succumbed to injuries on the spot. He told the court that he came to the ground in front of MQI secretariat for walk as part of his routine after the Fajr prayer and saw that the secretariat had been cordoned off by the police. He said that SHO Litton Road Asif Zulikfar along with his two gunmen namely Constable Muhammad Afzal and Constable Nadeem Iqbal was firing directly at the unarmed workers of PAT. The workers Shakeeb Awan, Sher Baz Khan and Asif Kamboh were injured with their firing. He said that the workers took the bullets at their shoulders, legs and the police officials continued to beat the injured workers quite severely with kicks and sticks.

Sabir Kamal Wattoo, the second witness, while recording his testimony, said that the police personnel resorted to the worst firing at the workers of PAT under the command of SP Investigation Nadeem and SP Headquarter Maroof Wahla. He said that when he joined the protesters to protest the direct firing, the police officials encircled him and subjected him to the severe torture. He said that when he fell down with the police torture, they considered him dead and moved on. He said that those who subjected him to torture included the gunmen of SP Mahroof Wahla and SP Investigation Nadeem.

13 eye-witnesses have recorded their statements in the complaint filed by the PAT against the accused of Model Town case including the PM, Federal Ministers, Chief Minister, provincial ministers and police officers. More witnesses will record their statements on April 1. The women who got injured with the police firing will also come to the antiterrorism court today to record their testimony.

PAT lawyers Rai Bashir Ahmad, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate, Sardar Ghazanfar Advocate, Ch Imtiaz Advocate, Farzand Mashahdi Advocate, Shakeel Advocate, Jawad Hamid, Major (r) Muhammad Saeed, and Noorullah Saddiqi were also present on the occasion.
