Govt bringing amendment in law to avoid justice: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Addressing a hurriedly called press conference, PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the government is going to bulldoze 100-year old Criminal Procedure Act 1898 from Section 200 to Section 2004 to ward off justice and Qisas in the Model Town case. He said that the plan against justice and fundamental rights of the people was made at the highest level in Islamabad and implemented in Lahore. He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif should stop entertaining the thought of becoming Tayyip Erdogan because his dream would never come true.

PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Mian Faiz Advocate, Ishtiaq Ch Advocate, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate, GM Malik, Noorullah Saddiqi, Sajid Bhatti and Jawad Hamid were also present on the occasion.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that amendment is being brought in the Criminal Procedure Code at a time when the private complaint of the PAT is under trial in the court of law. He said that the rulers are going to do away with the law under which the private complaint was filed. He said that after promulgation of this amendment, the affected party will not be able to directly approach the court after rejection of his/her plea for registration of FIR, adding that he would have the right of resorting to the court of law only after seeking the endorsement of SHO in case of the private complaint and the government will get the private complaint examined by retired people.

Dr Qadri made it clear that for the time being, this is meant to avoid the consequences of the Model Town case but the change in law is going to have implications for the fundamental right of justice for 200 million people. He said that we are informing the political parties, lawyers’ bodies, civil society organizations, in advance regarding the government’s sinister plan. He said that no amendment in law is going to stop the Qisas movement. He said that the perpetrators of Model Town tragedy will not be able to escape justice. He said that the first phase of Qisas movement starting on August 6 will end on August 30 in Islamabad, adding that the second and third phases will be announced later. He said that all political parties have supported the Qisas movement in the national consultative meeting held on July 31.
