Plan for Model Town JIT made in Patiala House: Tahirul Qadri

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Dr Tahirul Qadri alleged that the plan for constituting the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the Model Town killings was chalked out in Patiala House. “A rehearsal was performed by staging a complete set at Patiala House to record the statements,’ Dr Qadri alleged while talking to media representatives here at his residence prior to his departure for Bhakkar. The PAT chief once again said that he rejects the JIT, saying the judicial commission had already declared the Punjab government culprit....

PAT leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that he had presented three demands in his meeting with the Army Chief namely registration of FIR, secondly constitution of a neutral JIT which enjoys our confidence too, and thirdly resignation of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said that the Army Chief termed these demands fair, adding that FIR was registered but two demands are yet to be fulfilled. He asked the Army Chief to play his role in making them get justice....

Addressing a convention of Pakistani community in Houston on November 09, PAT chief Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that it was not Al-Qaeda or Taliban but the official machinery of the government, which was involved in shedding blood of innocent PAT workers and civilians in Model Town on June 17. Questioning the rationale of the government’s privatization policy, he said that selling off the state-owned enterprises in return for some quick bucks is no economic management to run a country....

Addressing the members of Pakistani expatriate community in New York on November 07, PAT Chief Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has asked the United States not to extend its support to the corrupt system in Pakistan. He said that corruption of individuals has destroyed institutions, adding that those claiming to bring back looted money of one another parked in overseas banks during their election campaign end up striking deals after they get into power. He said that fundamental rights of Pakistan’s citizens are not secure due to massive corruption and the Model Town tragedy is the worst example of state terrorism....
